![]() ![]() This directory is removed along with the application's executable by clicking Menu, and selecting Uninstall. The tool creates a directory which will hold the database, logs and sqlite3.dll : %ProgramData%\Ultra Adware Killer. Below I will describe in what I consider great detail of how this was proven on my end and I will also provide you all with a way to confirm it for yourselves incase there is any doubt after you are done reading this post. The author of these programs, Fred_UVK, has been stealing definitions, also known as databases, or blacklists from Junkware Removal Tool. ![]() All I know is, my permission was not given to do so and I would like my software and my software's definitions to be removed from UVK and UAK because of reasons below. I'd be interested in hearing what the other developers think of this. Yes I have been keeping up with this topic however I did not know that UVK was bundling other programs into its own tool until I came across this topic. I noted that thisisu was reading this topic yesterday. I know Malwarebytes does not hesitate when it comes to their product. If there was a legal avenue to pursue, I'm sure the developers would have taken it by now. I can now say that I would use UAK since Fred is working hard on keeping it updated. The only ones I would use on a common basis are AdwCleaner and JRT (from this list). Personally I would disregard this article and its recommendations, since it recommends quite shady tools I've never heard of, plus ones that are known to be suspicious or not trustworhty like YAC (since they stole Malwarebytes' definitions too). To imply that UAK has relatively the same age as JRT is somewhat insulting if there is a ~3+ year disparity. As far as I can tell, your tool came out early 2015 - At least the adware cleaning feature (UAK) as I had heard of UVK before which contained no such feature. I first tweeted and blogged about it here. JRT has been out since September 21, 2012. AdwCleaner is a very good product, and has been around for years while UAK and JRT are much more recent. I'm the developer of a similar tool mentioned in this topic called Junkware Removal Tool (JRT). ![]()
